Idea The Artist’s crystalline voice soars over her sophisticated and soulful songwriting. Compared often to Jeff Buckley and Joni Mitchell, Bright is truly lyrical, her warm sound like a golden backdrop for the captivating imagery of her words. In addition to her musical endeavors, Inés Beltranena (Idea The Artist) is also a painter, writer, and an Anthropologist with focus in Ancient Civilization and Folklore.
With a childhood firmly rooted in two countries, Idea is interested in exploring the in-between, identity, resilience, and wholeness. From the jungles of Guatemala to the oak forests of California, her childhood was filled with magic and beauty, and she draws on the experience of trying to fit between these two disparate worlds.
Her next gallery show, “Entre Dos Mundos,” will be held at Multnomah Arts Center in February of 2026: a collection exploring the present day Maya in Guatemala, and how their cultural traditions thrive within a colonial context.
Currently, Idea The Artist is working on another single, Jericho, with Portland’s own renowned multi-instrumentalist and producer, Tim Karplus, and preparing to record another album with award-winning Canadian producer, Joby Baker (Alex Cuba, Mae Moore, Toni Childs.)
